This Mongolia Pechino China Vintage 290 x 190 cm vintage is an exquisite piece of textile art. It features a beautiful pattern of intricate geometric designs and ornate floral motifs in shades of red, orange, yellow, blue, green and brown. The colors are so vivid that one can almost feel the warmth radiating from it. It was created by skilled artisans in the late 19th century during the Qing dynasty period and is believed to have been used as a ceremonial or decorative piece for special occasions such as weddings or other important events. Most likely made in the province of Inner Mongolia near Beijing (Pechino), this tapestry is hand-woven using traditional techniques with wool yarn dyed with natural dyes. The densely packed pile gives this antique rug its unique texture while providing excellent durability and longevity over time. The main field features an allover design composed of repetitive diamond shapes known as “cloud bands” surrounded by delicate floral medallions within scrolling vinescrolls which create a wonderful sense of movement throughout the composition. This central area has been framed by two wide borders decorated with repeating cartouches enclosing small flower blooms nestled amongst lush foliage and stylized cloud patterns; all set against a deep indigo background interspersed with vibrant hues derived from safflower petals for added dimensionality to this striking work of artistry that stands out even today despite its age-related signs wear due to its long life use .
